The Dirt Track @ Charlotte Motor Speedway is celebrating 10 years with 10 gargantuan machines at the Circle K Back-to-School Monster Truck Bash on Saturday, Aug. 15.

The most unique vehicles in motorsports, Monster Trucks are typically 11-feet tall and tip the scales at nearly five tons. Their custom-built, fuel-injected engines produce between 1,500 and 2,000 horsepower and the massive machines can jump 110 to 115 feet - a distance greater than 14 cars lined up side by side.

Equalizer, Raminator, Samson, Tailgator, War Wizard, Brutus, Nitemare, Mopar Magic, Avenger and Stone Crusher will compete in head-to-head challenges at The Dirt Track.

The evening will include a series of one-on-one elimination races over a radical obstacle course featuring the new Over-Under element where one truck jumps over the other. The gigantic vehicles will also battle in an insane freestyle competition.

Equalizer, the 2008 Monster Truck Bash champion, is looking to repeat after winning both the elimination and freestyle rounds last year.

In addition to the Monster Truck mayhem, crazy CRASHCars will be in action with their wild-and-wacky Trailer Race of Destruction. Super Bob Airborne is also set to perform a spectacular stunt.

Festivities begin with the Circle K Pre-Race Pit Party where fans can meet the Monster Truck drivers, have their pictures taken with the enormous racing machines and obtain autographs. Ticket holders can gain early entry to the Pit Party by purchasing a Thirst Buster Cup at any Circle K store and presenting the empty cup at the gate.

Early entry for the Circle K Pre-Race Pit Party starts at 4 p.m. and spectator gates open at 5 p.m. The party concludes at 6:30 p.m. and opening ceremonies are scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

If purchased in advance, reserved seats for the Aug. 15 Circle K Back-to-School Monster Truck Bash are $20 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. Tickets can be purchased online at www.charlottemotorspeedway.com or by calling the speedway's ticket office at 1-800-455-FANS.
