The stars of the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series and the NDRA Crate Late Model Series will battle it out in the heart of NASCAR country in two action-packed feature races at the Circle K NOS Energy Outlaw Showdown Friday. Below are some newsworthy items leading into Friday's event at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

Kasey Kahne Racing Looking for a Repeat at Home Track

Kasey Kahne Racing drivers will compete at their home track on Friday in the Circle K NOS Energy Outlaw Showdown. Kasey Kahne, owner of the Mooresville, N.C.-based team, looks forward to the Outlaw Showdown each spring since it is part of the 10 greatest days in racing.

"We've had lots of fun at The Dirt Track. We've won some races over there; we have done a lot of testing at the dirt track," said Kahne. "I get really excited when I race in Charlotte. We have two weeks where we have the All-Star Race, the 600, the Sprint Car World of Outlaw race across the street, the Saturday race (HISTORY 300); there is always something going on here. I enjoy it."

Kasey Kahne Racing's (KKR) most recent win at The Dirt Track at Charlotte came at last year's Circle K NOS Energy Outlaw Showdown with former KKR driver, Joey Saldana. This year, KKR driver Daryn Pittman looks to be the favorite as he already has five wins under his belt this season.

"It's not that it pays better or not that it's any different of a race, but it's more of an event," says Pittman about racing during the same weekend as the Coca-Cola 600. "Those are always the ones that are the most fun to be a part of."

NDRA Crate Late Model Series Kicks Off the Racing Action on Friday

In addition to the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series racing on Friday night, late model drivers from across the region will battle for a victory and a $2,000 prize in the NDRA Crate Late Model Series A-Main.

The action kicks off at 8:40 p.m., when NDRA racers take to the track for a 25-lap A-Main. Matt Long, a NDRA veteran, has entered the race and is looking forward to coming to The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

"It's great for the NDRA and us competitors to get to compete in front of 12,000-plus fans at a state-of-the-art facility," Long said. "Personally, I get more amped up for this event than any other during the year. Circle K sponsors both the event and our team, so I would love nothing more than to make it to Victory Lane."

Last year Chris Ferguson took the checkered flag in the NDRA A-Main. Long is hoping to steal Ferguson's chances for a repeat as he sets his sights on his first victory at the lightning-fast, four-tenths-mile clay oval.

Danger and Dizzy Perform Daring Stunts

The Circle K NOS Energy Outlaw Showdown will feature daring, never-before-attempted stunts by Dr. Danger and Mr. Dizzy. At 5:30 p.m., Dr. Danger and his crew will attempt a six-in-one stunt by jumping two cars off ramps into a pyramid of cars.

Before the A-Mains, Mr. Dizzy will attempt to spiral a 29-foot limousine over cars across the frontstretch, getting the crowd amped up for the racing action.

"No one has ever been able to spiral a limousine," said Mr. Dizzy. "It's going to be something that's never been done, you have to put a lot of work in to it. It's going to be hard on a dirt track; it's going to be quite the challenge. It's not like asphalt."

Both stunts will be filmed by the HISTORY Channel and featured in an upcoming series set to debut later this year.

Drivers to Participate in Free Autograph Session

Fans can get up close to their favorite drivers and get autographs during a free autograph session located on the concourse at 4:45 p.m., prior to on-track action Friday night. Tony Stewart Racing's Steve Kinser and Donny Schatz along with Kasey Kahne Racing's Cody Darrah and Daryn Pittman are among those expected to participate. The first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive a commemorative event poster to use.
