High-flying, metal-mashing, mega machines will invade The Dirt Track at Charlotte Aug. 14, for a spectacular thrill show during the 11th annual Circle K Back-to-School Monster Truck Bash.

Equalizer, Raminator, Samson, War Wizard, Brutus, Hot Tamale and Avenger are among those expected to compete in head-to-head challenges at The Dirt Track.

The evening of monster truck madness will include a series of one-on-one elimination races over a radical obstacle course featuring the over-under element where one truck jumps over the other. The gigantic vehicles will also battle in an insane freestyle competition.

The most unique vehicles in motorsports, monster trucks are typically 11-feet tall and tip the scales at nearly five tons. Their custom-built, fuel-injected engines produce nearly 2,000 horsepower and the massive machines can jump 110 to 115 feet—a distance greater than 14 cars lined up side-by-side.

In addition to the monster truck show, the FASTRAK Late Model Series will compete in a $2,000-to-win feature that was originally scheduled for May, but was postponed due to inclement weather. The make-up FASTRAK Triple Crown race will follow the monster truck freestyle event at approximately 9:45 p.m. FASTRAK Late Model competitors can find the registration form online or by calling the Charlotte Motor Speedway events department at (704) 455-3205.

Festivities begin with the Circle K Pre-Race Pit Party from 4-6 p.m., where fans can meet the monster truck drivers, obtain autographs and have their pictures taken with the enormous racing machines. Ticket holders can gain early entry to the Pit Party by purchasing a Thirst Buster Cup at any Circle K store and presenting the empty cup at the gate.

Spectator gates open at 4 p.m. and opening ceremonies are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

Reserved seats for the Aug. 14 Circle K Back-to-School Monster Truck Bash are $20 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling the speedway's ticket office at 1-800-455-FANS (3267).
