The Greatest Show on Dirt returns Friday, May 27, to The Dirt Track at Charlotte and World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series driver Steve Kinser is ready to fling some red clay at the Circle K NOS Energy Outlaw Showdown.

The event is part of the Charlotte Motor Speedway May Race Weeks, which are highlighted by the two biggest back-to-back events on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule - the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race on May 21 and the Coca-Cola 600 on May 29.

“Charlotte is just one of those places where you can feel the energy when you get to the track,” said Kinser, driver of the No. 11 Bass Pro Shops sprint car for Tony Stewart Racing. “I mean it sits right across the street from the big track and now they’ve got a state-of-the-art drag strip on the other side. The pit area is always full of people from NASCAR and it’s just a lot of fun.”

The veteran driver has a great history at the four-tenths-mile clay oval. He is a two-time winner at the track, claiming his last victory during the World of Outlaws World Finals in November 2007.

“We enjoy coming to Charlotte, it’s a really good track when it opens up and there are several lines that allow for a lot of passing. As a driver, it’s always fun to have a wide, multi-line track that allows us to really race pretty hard.”

Kinser, a 20-time World of Outlaws champion, is having quite a 2011 season. He currently has four wins and sits just nine points behind Kasey Kahne Racing driver Joey Saldana in the series standings. The Circle K NOS Energy Outlaw Showdown will be a vital stop for Kinser as he tries for his 21st championship.

Fans can see Kinser, Saldana and other stars from the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series on May 27 at The Dirt Track at Charlotte. Gates will open at 4:00 p.m. for the Circle K NOS Energy Outlaw Showdown and drivers will participate in a free autograph session from 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. on the main concourse. The first 1,000 fans to present a NOS Energy Drink from Circle K at the gate for the autograph party will receive a free limited-edition commemorative poster.

Opening ceremonies begin at 7:00 p.m. with the Circle K NOS Energy Outlaw Showdown scheduled to start at 8:35 p.m. After the World of Outlaws sprint car feature is complete, the NDRA Crate Late Model Series will take to The Dirt Track at Charlotte for their feature event.

Reserved seats to the Circle K NOS Energy Outlaw Showdown are just $25 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. For just $15, fans 14 and older can upgrade their ticket to include a pit pass.
