The Winged Warriors of the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series Return for Circle K NOS Energy Outlaw Showdown
Prepared to provide some of the most exciting and entertaining racing in the country, officials at The Dirt Track at Charlotte are ready for the return of the winged warriors of the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series for the Circle K NOS Energy Outlaw Showdown on May 23.
The Friday-night event is part of Charlotte Motor Speedway's 10-Day Blockbuster of Racing, which is bookended by the two biggest back-to-back events on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule - the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race on Saturday, May 17 and the ultimate test of man and machine, the Coca-Cola 600 on Sunday, May 25.
Steve Kinser will make the first of two stops at the lightning-fast, four-tenths-mile clay oval for his "Salute to the King" tour for the Outlaw Showdown, marking his final full World of Outlaws season, and is sure to be a fan favorite in the $12,000-to-win A-Main. A victory in the feature race would be the third career Dirt Track at Charlotte win for the 20-time World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series champion.
Last year, it was Paul McMahan who emerged victorious at the conclusion of the action-packed 30-lap A-Main over 2013 World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series champion Daryn Pittman and 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series rookie Kyle Larson.
Prior to the on-track action of the Outlaw Showdown, fans can get autographs from some of the biggest names in the sport, such as Kinser, Pittman, McMahan, Donny Schatz, Joey Saldana, Cody Darrah, Brad Sweet and more. The autograph session will take place on the concourse from 4:30-5:15 p.m. The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a free commemorative poster.
Gates open at 4 p.m., with opening ceremonies scheduled for 7:05 p.m., followed by heat racing and the 30-lap Circle K NOS Energy Outlaw Showdown A-Main. Joining the World of Outlaws on the schedule this year are the drivers of the FASTRAK Late Model Series for a 25-lap, $2,000-to-win A-Main.
Reserved seats to the Circle K NOS Energy Outlaw Showdown are just $25 for adults and $10 for children ages 13 and under. For just $15, fans 14 and older can upgrade their ticket to include a pit pass. A $5 discount coupon is available at Heintz Performance in Concord, N.C. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Charlotte Motor Speedway ticket office at 1-800-455-FANS (3267) or online at www.charlottemotorspeedway.com.
