As a longtime fan of racing, and specifically NHRA, Stephen Doyle and his family look forward to coming to zMAX Dragway every year. Not only are they season ticket holders, but they drive eight hours from their home in Maryland to attend both the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals in the spring and the O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Nationals in the fall. In between their visits to North Carolina, they travel up and down the East Coast, stopping at tracks in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Florida. So why does the Doyle family come to zMAX Dragway?

“I have been to many drag racing facilities that host NHRA national events,” Doyle said. “And I can say without a doubt there is no place on the planet that compares to what zMAX has to offer as far as a complete experience, including the surrounding areas. You don’t have to leave the Concord area for anything you need. It’s just a complete package and experience.”

Doyle bought his season tickets the year before the track was built and has a total of eight seats. This year, Doyle added his wife to the ticket account to make sure the tickets will stay in his family if anything happened to him - that’s how much he loves the drag strip and the tickets.

“It’s something my whole family can do together and we can interact together. The only problem we have is when we have to leave,” Doyle said.

One of the perks of being a longtime season ticket holder is the bond you form with the other fans around you. The Doyles have started to spend time with the families around them, including going to a concert with their seat neighbors to see Smokey Robinson. Doyle said they spend a lot of time on Bruton Smith Boulevard, since the location is so convenient and the southern hospitality makes them want to do more in the area.

Fans of John Force Racing, Doyle notes that any “average Joe” can walk through Nitro Alley and meet the drivers, not something fans can do in other sports. zMAX Dragway, proud to be fan-friendly, also provides “creature comforts,” as Doyle said, which includes great seats all around, a friendly staff and little things like clean bathroom stalls.

“It truly is the Bellagio of drag strips, there is no doubt about it!” Doyle said with excitement.

Doyle also had high praise for the ticket service and events departments, remarking that they were among the best in the business.
