Each year the pages of HOT ROD Magazine come to life when performance car lovers from across the world join HOT ROD's editors and photographers in a seven-cities-in-seven-days tour across America. 2014 marks the festive 20th anniversary of this ultimate road trip as Chevrolet Performance Presents the HOT ROD Power Tour driven by Continental Tire®, June 7-13.

Over 4,500 participants are expected to celebrate the 20th anniversary edition of the Power Tour which kicks off with the Painless Performance Wiring Cruise Night at zMAX Dragway and winds its way through Tennessee, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, and Iowa before its final stop at the Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells, WI. Along the way, more than 75,000 spectators will enjoy free admission to get up-close to the thousands of beautiful hot rods, street rods, custom trucks, muscle cars, and performance machines of every vintage and every nameplate. Some of these lovingly-prepared gorgeous machines will be making one-day appearances and many will be making the entire 1500-mile-plus journey and thus earning the coveted status as "Long Hauler™". At each stop, a colorful midway of mobile display rigs from over 50 performance manufacturers and aftermarket specialists will offer participants and spectators a chance to view the latest innovations and get expert advice. Motorsports celebrities will sign autographs for the fans. Every day the main stage will host entertainment, celebrities, games, and dozens of giveaways.

The 2013 Power Tour finale stop at zMAX Dragway will serve as the kickoff of the 2014 20th anniversary edition. Painless Performance Products will continue its long tradition of sponsoring the kickoff cruise night. In the Continental Tire display, racing legend Richard Petty will be greeting visitors and signing autographs from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Earlier in the day, he will have a private meet and greet with lucky contest winners at a special breakfast courtesy of Continental Tire and Petty's Garage. The winners will also receive a private tour of the original Richard Petty Garage on Sunday, June 8 including a private lunch. The winners will be selected from entrants who pre-register for the HOT ROD Power Tour by May 1.

Christian Byrd, Executive Director and General Manager of zMAX Dragway said, "We couldn't be happier to again welcome the thousands of performance car fans kicking off the 2014 Power Tour. It was an amazing and memorable day last year when we served as the finale Tour stop. We were stunned by the spectacular variety of actually-driven vehicles and their owners who spent the day with us. Associating with HOT ROD Magazine and the Power Tour adds to our legacy of hosting some of the most prestigious motorsports events in the world here at zMAX Dragway and Charlotte Motor Speedway. And getting the tremendous positive boost to our local economy by these thousands of visitors has made it especially worthwhile to open our doors to the hot rod community."

The HOT ROD Power Tour is a boon to the economies of each of its tour stops. Hotels, restaurants, nightclubs and bars and more will play host to the tour participants who are relaxed and enjoying the hot rodding lifestyle. Participants come from around the world to take part in the HOT ROD Power Tour. They plan for months or even years for the trip, and they come prepared to spend money at each stop.

"As the home of horsepower, we're thrilled to kick off the 2014 Power Tour in Cabarrus County," said Donna Carpenter, President and CEO of the Cabarrus County Convention and Visitors Bureau. We look forward to welcoming the 15,000 expected participants and seeing over 3,500 hot rods at zMAX Dragway. We hope they'll feel right at home in Speed City, USA this June and invite them all to visit again soon."
