Fulfill your need for speed during the Summer Drag and Brag Series which begins Wednesday night, June 15, at the Bellagio of drag strips, zMAX Dragway.

Running every Wednesday night for six weeks from June to July, the Summer Drag and Brag Series gives speed buffs a chance to bring out their personal rides from dragsters and souped-up street bikes, to classic Camaros and even soccer-mom vans and drag race them on the famous concrete quarter-mile.

Drag racers will compete nightly with their chosen vehicle for the opportunity to win Best in Show, Best Elapsed Time, Best Reaction Time, Top Speed, Best Burnout, and the Ironman Award, given to the driver who makes the most passes.

Car-and-driver registration is only $20 per vehicle and tickets for spectators can be purchased at the gate for just $5. Kids 12 and under are free with a paying adult.

Helmets are required for all competitors that are 110 mph or faster at the quarter-mile. All competitor vehicles must go through Tech Inspection by NHRA Certified Technical Inspectors. For a quick reference chart on safety aspects that must be met, please visit:

http://nhra.com/competition/etquickref.aspx. For motorcycles - pants, helmet, jacket and gloves are acceptable under 120 mph at the quarter-mile.

Motorcycles faster than 120 mph must have leathers.

Gates and registration open each Wednesday at 4 p.m. with racing action from 5 to 9 p.m. For more information on the Summer Drag & Brag Series or any of the other events at zMAX Dragway, go to www.zmaxdragway.com or call the Charlotte Motor Speedway ticket office at 1-800-455-FANS (3267).
