The July 14 finale of the Summer Drag & Brag Series featured a car count of more than 100 cars and some great grudge-racing action.

Daniel Gonzalez of Concord, N.C. recorded a perfect .000 second reaction time during round six of Summer Drag & Brag in his 2005 Nissan Sentra. He also took home the night’s Iron Man award for making 23 passes. The Best Elapsed Time (7.468 seconds) and Top Speed (171.49 mph) honors went to John Lucas from Mount Gilead, N.C. on his 2004 Fast Kat Nitro Motorcycle. Zohaib Khan from Charlotte, N.C. produced the Best Burnout of the night in his 2007 Toyota Tacoma TRD. The 1946 Lincoln Zephyr of Jerry Hemmingson won the Best in Show award.

Records from this summer’s Drag and Brag action at the Bellagio of drag strips included the round six 0.00 second reaction time of Gonzalez. The best elapsed time (7.172 seconds) of the summer went to Scott Moore from Mooresville, N.C. in his 2010 Mike Box 285 dragster during round five and the top speed of the series was 182.70 mph during round two by Mike Thyen on his 2009 Suzuki Hyabusa motorcycle.

Next up at zMAX Dragway are the NMCA/NMRA All-Star Nationals Aug. 6-8. The National Muscle Cars Association (NMCA) and the National Mustang Racers Association (NMRA), will again converge at zMAX Dragway for a three-day national competition.
