Summer Drag and Brag Series Provides Something for Every Auto Enthusiast
Whether you bring your dragster, souped-up station wagon, classic Camaro or your grandma's grocery-getter, there's something for everyone at the Summer Drag & Brag Series, which kicked off Wednesday night at zMAX Dragway. Summer Drag & Brag provides opportunities for auto enthusiasts to run their car down the Bellagio of drag strips, display their vehicle in the Cruise-In, watch a drifting demonstration, or simply take it all in from the grandstands.
Drag racers compete nightly for the opportunity to win in the categories of Best in Show, Best Elapsed Time, Best Reaction Time, Top Speed and Best Burnout.
This Wednesday night, Kyle Thompson of Charlotte, N.C. took home the honors for Best Burnout and Best Reaction Time of .001 seconds in his 2002 Mercedes and Larry Bell of Salisbury, N.C. for Best Elapsed Time of 9.506 seconds in his 1974 Chevrolet Camaro. Aaron Smith of Mooresville, N.C. in a 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle had the Top Speed of 140.43 mph and David Conrade of Waxhaw, N.C. took home the honor of Best in Show in his 1969 Chevrolet Camaro.
