Summer Drag & Brag Week Six is Hot, Hot, Hot
The final round of Summer Drag and Brag featured hot temperatures and even hotter racing action. Doug Foley Jr., of Statesville, N.C., stole the show taking home awards for Best Reaction Time, Best Elapsed Time and Top Speed while he earned his NHRA license in an S & W Dragster. He recorded a perfect .000-second reaction time, a-9.04 second elapsed time and a top speed of 163.27 mph. Four cars ran seven runs to tie for the Iron Man award, and Richard Bromer, of Kannapolis, N.C., took home the Best in Show honors for his 1973 Plymouth Duster.
The winner of the night’s Gamblers Race was Colby Holder, while Russell Pryor finished second.
Foley Jr.’s week six performance eclipsed season records for Best Reaction Time and Top Speed, while Larry Bell set the Best Elapsed Time of 8.10 seconds during week three in his 1994 Chevrolet Camaro.
