For zMAX Dragway fan Tim Boyes, the 2012 NHRA Four-Wide Nationals will be his third visit to the Bellagio of drag strips. Traveling from Clayton, Ontario, Canada, Boyes has not missed a Four-Wide event since the inaugural race in 2010.

“Four-Wide Nationals is the only event I attend at the zMAX Dragway…so far,” Boyes said.

Boyes travels with three of his friends on a 15-hour drive from Canada to the dragway at Concord, N.C. just to see 32,000 horsepower on the only four-lane all-concrete drag strip and meet up with other friends they met at their first race.

“The first year (we attended the race), we met four good friends from Illinois there,” Boyes added.

During that first race, Boyes sites the Funny Cars as his most memorable moment so far at the track. During the qualifying rounds, Matt Hagan and Jeff Diehl had explosive crashes and John Force had an early shut off.

Boyes also attends the U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, Ind., with his family and has every year for 15 years. Also on his schedule are the Gatornationals and a “handful of tracks” during the season.

But Boyes says zMAX Dragway stands out above the other tracks he’s been to.

“Like they say, it’s the ‘Bellagio of drag strips!’ Hands down, it’s the nicest, cleanest, most well-put together drag strip I’ve ever been to!” Boyes said.

Although the group currently stays at a hotel, in the future they may consider camping during the weekend, which is an option.

“The facility is very impressive and if time ever allows for a more lengthy stay in the area we would consider it for sure,” Boyes said.

Boyes and his friends will watch the stars of the NHRA return to zMAX Dragway April 13-15 as the stars of NHRA attempt to add their names to the exclusive list of winners.

Fans can purchase two tickets to any day of the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals for $60 and receive a choice of two t-shirts, two beer vouchers or two Coca-Cola soft drinks and two hot dogs. Children 13 and under are admitted for free with the purchase of an adult ticket.

Tickets and camping are still available for the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals, April 13-15 at zMAX Dragway, by calling the Charlotte Motor Speedway ticket office at 1-800-455-FANS (3267).
