2011 Daytona 500 Champion Trevor Bayne to Race in Circle K Late Model Showdown at The Dirt Track at Charlotte
NASCAR star and 2011 Daytona 500 champion Trevor Bayne will take to The Dirt Track at Charlotte on Oct. 10 to compete against World of Outlaws Late Model Series regulars in the 50-lap Circle K Late Model Showdown.
Joining him at the lightning-fast, four-tenths-mile clay oval will be Austin Dillon, 2011 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion and contender for the 2012 NASCAR Nationwide Series title, and Ty Dillon, current NASCAR Camping World Truck Series points leader.
Bayne will compete at The Dirt Track at Charlotte for the first time, while the Dillon brothers have a history at the track, which is situated across the street from Charlotte Motor Speedway. The grandsons of legendary race team owner Richard Childress each have victories at the track. Austin won the 2007 and 2009 FASTRAK Late Model Series events, while Ty won the 2008 FASTRAK race.
In addition, Josh Richards, 2009 and 2010 World of Outlaws Late Model Series champion and current NASCAR Nationwide Series driver, will return to his dirt racing roots in pursuit of winning the Circle K Late Model Showdown for the fourth consecutive year.
The World of Outlaws Late Model drivers expected to compete in the $10,000-to-win feature event against them are current World of Outlaws Late Model Series points leader Darrell Lanigan, 2011 series champion Rick Eckert; series regulars Shane Clanton, Vic Coffey, Chub Frank, Tim McCreadie, Clint Smith and many more.
In addition to the Late Model Showdown, the crate late models of the National Dirt Racing Association (NDRA) will compete in a 30-lap feature race with $2,000 set to go to the winner, plus a bonus package.
Spectator gates open at 5 p.m. and the drivers will participate in an autograph session at 5:30 p.m. Opening ceremonies begin at 7:20 p.m. with the Circle K Late Model Showdown scheduled to start at 9:10 p.m.
Tickets are just $25 for adults and $10 for children 13 and under for reserved seats to the Late Model Showdown.
Fans can get $5 off of their $25 adult ticket for Wednesday night’s Circle K Late Model Showdown when they purchase a 24-ounce premium coffee from Circle K. Simply bring the cup to the ticket office or gate when purchasing a ticket to the Wednesday night event.
