Expanding its sports marketing presence at Charlotte Motor Speedway, officials of Quaker Steak & Lube announced today that the award-winning automotive-themed restaurant chain will serve as title sponsor of the track's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race on Friday night, May 20.

In addition, the National Highway Traffic Administration's Click It or Ticket campaign will be the race's presenting sponsor. The Quaker Steak & Lube 200 presented by Click It or Ticket will run under the lights as the finale to NASCAR NEXTEL All-Star Challenge Pole Night activities.

Quaker Steak & Lube opened its Concord, N.C., restaurant, located one mile from the speedway, last May and the Pennsylvania-based company immediately established a partnership with the track. Quaker Steak & Lube now serves the "Official Chicken Wing of Charlotte Motor Speedway" and sponsored a 100-mile ARCA race last May.

"We are thrilled that our relationship with Quaker Steak & Lube has evolved into the opportunity to partner in one of our major NASCAR events," said H.A. "Humpy" Wheeler, president and general manager of Charlotte Motor Speedway. "With as many chicken wings that are consumed during our races, someday, some archeologist is going to stumble onto what now is the speedway and mistake it for an ancient chicken burial ground!"

"This is our second year of race sponsorship, and we hope to continue to have a long lasting relationship between Quaker Steak & Lube and the speedway," said George Warren, co-founder and CEO of Quaker Steak & Lube.

"It was a natural fit for us," Warren continued. "We started our first restaurant in an old gas station and have continued to grow with the public's affection for racing, cars and motorcycles by turning each of our restaurants into a type of motor-themed museum. Of course serving great food along with the fun atmosphere is a plus."

Gary Meszaros and Warren opened the first Quaker Steak & Lube restaurant in a converted Sharon, Pa., gas station in 1974 and the company now has franchised restaurants in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Tennessee, Florida, Wisconsin and North Carolina.

It was also announced that Quaker Steak & Lube will have an on-track presence during the 200-mile event with associate sponsorship of the Morgan Dollar Motorsports Chevrolets driven by Tony Stewart and defending event winner Dennis Setzer. Stewart will drive the No. 47 All Star Silverado that Bobby Labonte took to victory lane April 9 at Martinsville Speedway.

As part of the event sponsorship, Charlotte Motor Speedway and Quaker Steak & Lube are joining the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and law enforcement agencies across eight Southeastern states in promoting a new safety campaign, "Buckle Up In Your Truck."

The regional campaign is aimed at increasing seat belt use, and will run in the Charlotte area between May 23 and June 5.
