Three Panthers Fill GM Role for Truck Race
Among their duties at the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event, the NFL trio will give the command, "gentlemen, start your engines," to send 36 NASCAR drivers on their way in one of the premier events on the NASCAR truck series schedule. Minter, Rucker and Davis will also be on stage during driver introductions and participate in other pre-race activities. The Quaker Steak & Lube 200 will begin at approximately 8:45 p.m. after qualifying for the NASCAR NEXTEL All-Star Challenge.
Minter joined the Carolina Panthers as a second round draft pick from the University of Nebraska in 1997. The Lawton, Okla., native is the Panthers' all-time leading tackler from his strong safety position.
Also from the University of Nebraska, Rucker was selected by the Panthers in the second round of the 1999 draft. From his defensive end position, the St. Joseph, Mo., native ranks second in team history with 36.5 sacks and was selected to the Pro Bowl roster in 2003.
Davis joined the Panthers as a free agent running back in 2003. The Spartanburg, S.C., native established single-season team records for rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, rushing attempts, 100-yard rushing games and consecutive 100-yard rushing contests.
Minter, Rucker and Davis are well-recognized in the Charlotte region for their community involvement and are partners in the Ruckus House Learning Center, a child development facility for ages 5-12 under construction in Harrisburg, N.C.
