Fireworks at Hardee's Summer Shootout
One of the region's best entertainment values, a family of four can attend the action-packed racing program for $20 or less as adult tickets are still just $5. Children 6 to 12 are admitted for $3 and kids under 6 are free.
Tuesday night's schedule includes seven divisions of Legends Car, Bandolero and Thunder Roadster racing with the wild-and-crazy CRASHCars also on the card. The Amoco Ultimate-sponsored Fireworks Extravaganza will follow the racing program at approximately 10:15 p.m.
The Hardee's Summer Shootout is auto racing's version of Little League baseball. More than 200 drivers, ranging in age from 8 to 65 and several with famous NASCAR fathers, compete in the 10-week series.
Recent Hardee's Summer Shootout graduates include NASCAR Busch Series point leader Reed Sorenson, who won the Legends Car Pro division championship in 2000 and 2002, and rising Hooters Pro Cup Series star Stephen Wallace, the 2001 Bandolero Young Guns titlist.
Tickets are available in advance at the speedway ticket office and at Gates 4 and 5 the night of the event. Parking is free. Contact the speedway ticket office at 1-800-455-FANS for information or to purchase tickets.
Spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with preliminary action at 5:30 p.m. Feature racing begins at 7:30 p.m. and is scheduled to conclude by 10:15.
