John Gottsacker of Dallas, Texas, will attempt to remain unbeaten Tuesday night when The Gardens of Taylor Glen presents round three of the 10-race Summer Shootout Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Gottsacker, the defending Legends Car national champion, has been the class of the Peach Auto Body Legends Car Pro division. The 14-year-old racer claimed the season opener in convincing fashion and then slipped under a wild last-lap crash to secure victory in round two.

Known as "The Shark," Gottsacker has been racing since age 5 and has captured six national championships in go-karts, Bandoleros and Legends Cars. A strong finish Tuesday night would be a major step toward solidifying his hopes for a Summer Shootout title as double points will be on the line.

More than 200 cars jam the Summer Shootout pit area each week as three classes of Bandoleros, three divisions of Legends Cars and the Thunder Roadsters battle on the frontstretch quarter-mile oval. The series runs each Tuesday night through Aug. 8 with a special Monday night event on July 3.

In addition to the seven regular divisions, the wild-and-wacky CRASHCars, a division that is redefining entry level stock car racing, will also be in action.

Summer Shootout admission is just $5 for adults. Children 6-12 are admitted for $3 and kids under 6 are free. Tickets are available in advance at the speedway ticket office and at Gates 4 and 5 the night of the event. Parking is free.

Spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with preliminary action at 5:30 p.m. Feature racing begins at 7:30 p.m. and is scheduled to conclude by 10:15. For information, call the speedway ticket office at 1-800-455-FANS.
