Forces of Good and Evil to Battle
"The meteor storm that brought the most powerful sport on Earth to Charlotte Motor Speedway, also deposited the forces of intergalactic good and evil in our infield," said Roger Slack, director of events Charlotte Motor Speedway. "The hostilities between these mechanical misfits and vehicular oddities threaten to delay round five of the 10-race Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup."
The two sides, the Chancellery of Cancellation and the United Race Savers, will square off in a fire-breathing, car-smashing slobberknocker that will determine the fate of the Bank of America 500.
"This will be the largest battle of mechanical monsters in the history of the universe," Slack added. "When the smoke finally clears, there is sure to be plenty of mangled metal and mashed circuit boards."
The list of mechanical monsters participating in the cosmic battle includes Transaurus, the world's only jet-powered dinosaur; Megasaurus, Reptar, Space Viper, Trans-Stormer, Galactron and Cra-Z-Boy. Even Lug Nut, the world's fastest mascot, will be called into action to guarantee the race goes off as planned.
Robot Wars is just one element of the pre-race spectacular that also includes the Bank of America "Celebration of Champions," honoring each winner of the 500-mile fall classic. Albemarle, N.C., native and "American Idol" sensation Kellie Pickler will sing the national anthem and the fly-over will be by a team of F-16 Fighting Falcons.
Good seats for the Bank of America 500 on Saturday night, Oct. 14, are still available with tickets starting at just $39. They can be purchased by calling the speedway ticket office at 1-800-455-FANS or online.
