Add Austin Dillon to World Short-Track Entries
Dillon is slated to drive the No. 31 No Fear/Snap-On Tools late model stock car in the Fastrak Racing Series portion of the six-division program. The nomadic Fastrak Racing Series features standard dirt late model stock cars powered by General Motors crate engines.
A veteran of the Bandolero and Legends Car ranks, Dillon has been learning the ropes of dirt late model racing since placing sixth in the Legends Car Semi-Pro division standings of the 10-race Summer Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway. He is being guided by veteran late model racer and dirt track driving school instructor Dale McDowell, who prepares the No. 31 machine.
Dillon was literally born with racing in his blood. His father, Mike Dillon, competed in the NASCAR Busch Series for several years and now serves as vice president of competition for Richard Childress Racing. His mother, Tina Dillon, is Richard and Judy Childress' only child. She has served in various capacities at Richard Childress Racing and now oversees the day-to-day operations of Childress Vineyards.
In addition to the Fastrak Racing Series, the Domino's Pizza World Short-Track Championships include the limited late models of the United Southern Late Model Series, the winged sprint cars of the Heintz Performance American Sprint Car Series, stock 4-cylinders, IMCA modifieds and CRASHCars
Practice and qualifying heat races for each of the six divisions will be Friday night, Nov. 3, with the last chance races and championship feature events on tap Saturday night, Nov. 4.
One ticket is good for both nights of the Domino's Pizza World Short-Track Championships and adult seats are just $25 with children ages 12 and under admitted for $10.
Tickets can be obtained online at www.charlottemotorspeedway.com or by calling the Charlotte Motor Speedway ticket office at 1-800-455-FANS.
