Lowe's Motor Speedway President and General Manager H.A. "Humpy" Wheeler presented Kasey Kahne with a golden broom today in recognition of his 2006 sweep of points races at the famous 1.5-mile superspeedway.

Kahne became only the seventh driver in the 48-year history of the track to win both the Coca-Cola 600 and Bank of America 500 in the same year, joining an elite list that includes Fred Lorenzen (1965), Bobby Allison (1971), David Pearson (1974), Richard Petty (1975), Dale Earnhardt (1986) and Jimmie Johnson (2004, 2005).

"By winning both races at this track, you've added your name to a group of drivers that have combined to win 19 championships. That's pretty stout company so you deserve something to remember this ‘sweep'," stated Wheeler as he presented the driver of the No. 9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge with a steering-wheel-topped golden broom.

"It's definitely the most unique trophy I've ever received," Kahne said as he laughed with Wheeler.

"Every time I've come to Charlotte, I always thought we had a great shot at winning and we've been super fast. Last year we were really good, and in both races we had to beat Jimmie Johnson, the guy who is untouchable at this track."

In just three years of NASCAR NEXTEL Cup competition at LMS, Kahne has earned nearly $1.5 million and led a whopping 550 (25.8%) of the 2,133 laps he's completed.

Tickets for the May 27 Coca-Cola 600 and all 2007 NASCAR events at Lowe's Motor Speedway are on sale now and can be purchased by calling 1-800-455-FANS or online at www.charlottemotorspeedway.com.
