Motorsports publicist Adrian Parker has joined Lowe's Motor Speedway's communications department as director of communications.

Parker's responsibilities include publicity and media operations for all speedway events including the May 17 NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race and May 25 Coca-Cola 600. He will develop and implement publicity plans and work closely with media members on national, regional and local levels.

Before joining the speedway, Parker served as account manager for Roush Fenway Racing's No. 17 DEWALT Ford Fusion team, overseeing publicity and sponsorship activities for NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Matt Kenseth during the 2006 and 2007 seasons.

Prior to that, Parker spent three seasons as a public relations professional working with NASCAR drivers Ken Schrader, Kyle Petty, John Andretti and Jeff Green.

"Adrian Parker is a service-oriented publicist who brings a strong reputation of productivity and creativity to our team," said Scott Cooper, Lowe's Motor Speedway's vice president of communications.

"He also brings an understanding of what Lowe's Motor Speedway means to NASCAR and the Charlotte region," Cooper added. "Adrian grew up in nearby China Grove and attended his first race at Lowe's at age 9 with his father. Now we're pleased to have him on board as a member of our staff."

Parker, 30, graduated from Catawba College in 1999 and obtained a master's degree in communications from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2001. He and his wife, Lindsey, reside in Matthews, N.C.
