CRASHCars, the unique entry level racing machines inspired by "CARS" movie creator John Lasseter, will provide the "pop" Tuesday night as Vault presents round seven of the 10-race Quaker Steak & Lube Summer Shootout Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

"The Summer Shootout has always been an evening of motorsports entertainment for the entire family, and the CRASHCars take the fun factor to a new level," said Roger Slack, vice president of events for Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Virtually any full- or mid-sized convertible, coupe or sedan can be transformed into a CRASHCar. Each car must have a cartoon-style theme and feature brightly colored paint and graphics. The CRASHCar rulebook is designed to maximize safety while minimizing costs.

Among the wild and crazy CRASHCars expected to bang fenders on the frontstretch quarter-mile oval are Invader, Vigilante, Swamp Donkey, Big Show, No Insurance, Copperhead and Redneck Medic.

In addition to the CRASHCar race, round seven of the 15th annual Quaker Steak & Lube Summer Shootout will feature three classes of Bandolero racing, four divisions of Legends Cars and the Thunder Cars. The Bandoleros and Legends Cars race on the frontstretch quarter-mile oval while the Thunder Cars battle on the 1.5 mile superspeedway.

Admission is just $7 for adults. Children 6-12 are admitted for $3 and kids under 6 are free. Tickets are available in advance at the speedway ticket office and at Gates 4 and 5 the night of the event. Parking is free.

Spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with preliminary action at 5:15 p.m.

Feature racing begins at 7:30 p.m. and is scheduled to conclude by 10:15.
