Community members can prepare for the holidays and help support children in need with the Speedway Children's Charities annual Christmas Tree Sale. The sale begins Monday, Nov. 24, across from the main entrance of Charlotte Motor Speedway at the Windy Ridge Tree Lot.

Shoppers can choose from a variety of Fraser Fir Christmas trees, as well as, a complete line of wreaths, garland, bows and tree stands. A portion of all proceeds will go to local children in need through Speedway Children's Charities.

Windy Ridge is a family-owned farm and has been providing quality Christmas trees from the mountains of North Carolina for 35 years. Newly cut trees will be shipped from the farm to the speedway each week and displayed in water to assure the freshest possible tree for customers.

"It's great to team up with Windy Ridge again this year to offer people a way to purchase items for the holidays and give back to the community for a worthy cause at the same time," said Amanda Hollingsworth, director of Speedway Children's Charities Charlotte Chapter. "Last year the tree lot raised nearly $5,000 in funds for our grant recipients, and this year we hope to surpass that amount."

Windy Ridge's tree sale will go through Saturday, Dec. 20. The lot will be open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays.

Through donations, sponsorships and fundraising events like the Windy Ridge Christmas Tree Sale, Speedway Children's Charities is able to raise funds for distribution to charitable organizations that provide medical, social and educational services to children in need.
