South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford and North Carolina Lt. Governor Beverly Perdue will play key roles in the Coca-Cola 600 NASCAR Winston Cup race Sunday, May 25, at Lowe¿s Motor Speedway.

Sanford, the 115th governor of South Carolina, will serve as Grand Marshal for the 44th running of stock car racing¿s Memorial Day Weekend classic. Sanford will preside over pre-race ceremonies, welcoming fans and competitors to the Southeast¿s largest sporting event.

Lt. Governor Perdue, a former school teacher and health care professional, will serve as the Honorary Starter for stock car racing¿s longest event. She will greet drivers during pre-race introductions and then wave the green flag to send the 43-car starting field on its 600-mile journey.
