Amazing No. 3, a Nubian goat born with a white No. 3 on its right side, will make its inaugural North Carolina appearance as Lowe¿s Motor Speedway opens its annual Summer Shootout Series Tuesday night, June 10.

Officials also announced that Amazing No. 3 will become the first animal to serve as grand marshal for a speedway event, officially ¿kicking off¿ the 10th anniversary of the 10-week Summer Shootout Series.

Owned by Jerry and Laura Pierson of Interlachen, Fla., Amazing No. 3 has attracted worldwide attention since it was born on March 4, 2002, just over a year after racing legend Dale Earnhardt lost his life in a crash at Daytona International Speedway.

¿We¿ve had a lot of fun showing her off,¿ Jerry Pierson said about his award-winning goat. ¿We¿ve showed her at fairs and agricultural events which give children the opportunity to see farm animals up close.¿

Scheduled to run each Tuesday night through Aug. 12, the Summer Shootout Series features three divisions of 600 Racing Legends Car racing, three classes of Bandolero action and the extremely popular Thunder Roadsters.

The action-packed card also includes a Celebrity Grudge Match with two NASCAR drivers battling in Winston Cup-style convertibles.

Admission is just $5 for adults. Children 6-12 are admitted for $3 with kids under 6 free. Tickets are available in advance at the speedway ticket office and at the new Gate 4 ticket office the night of the event. Parking is free. Contact the speedway ticket office at 1-800-455-FANS for information or to purchase tickets.
