Location: The Dirt Track @ Lowe¿s Motor Speedway. Four-tenths mile clay oval with 10-degree banking in turns.

What: IMCA Modifieds: Open-wheel stock cars based on factory production 1960 or newer American rear-wheel drive passenger car frames. Any American make engine is allowed, however, there is a $525 engine claim rule. Based in Vinton, Iowa, the International Motor Contest Association is the oldest active automobile racing sanctioning body in the United States.

Stock 4-Cylinders: Production automobiles with 4-cylinder engines. Cars must conform to stock appearance and shape and meet a minimum weight of 2,000 pounds. Weight breaks are granted to Chevrolets (200 pounds) and cars with over-the-counter 60 or 70 series DOT tires (100 pounds).

Demolition Derby: Stock full- and mid-sized hard top coupes, sedans and station wagons crash into each other until one car remains moving. Street-legal tires, fully operational brakes and factory shocks are required. Engines may be interchanged (a Chevrolet may be run in a Ford), but cannot be modified.

Event History: The Snap-On Tools Grassroots Nationals marks the first opportunity for weekly short-track racers to compete at The Dirt Track @ Lowe¿s Motor Speedway. The event has attracted entries from more than 100 of the top weekly racers from across the Southeast.

Track History: The Dirt Track @ Lowe¿s Motor Speedway opened on May 25, 2000, with an appearance by the World of Outlaws sprint cars. Construction on the $10 million facility began in October 1999. The towering aluminum main grandstand was completely rebuilt prior to the 2001 season to improve spectator sight lines.
