Late model stock car racing returns to The Dirt Track @ Lowe¿s Motor Speedway Saturday night, Sept. 13, when the state-of-the-art facility hosts the Golden Corral Dirt Late Model Championship.

Sanctioned by the O¿Reilly Southern All Star Racing Series, the event will be highlighted by a 40-lap feature with $10,000 earmarked for the winner. It will be the first late model race at the four-tenths-mile dirt track since 2001 as tropical storm Hanna washed out last year¿s running of the annual event.

Several of the nation¿s top dirt late model racers including Scott Bloomquist, Dale McDowell, Mike Duvall, Southern All Star point leader Duayne Hommel and former series champion Clint Smith are among those expected to be on hand.

The Golden Corral Dirt Late Model Championship includes heat races, last-chance qualifiers and the 40-lap feature for the dirt late models. A full slate of Legends Car racing is also on the card.

The event will be held in conjunction with the Sept. 11-14 Food Lion AutoFair, the world¿s largest automotive extravaganza, at Lowe¿s Motor Speedway.

Tickets for the Golden Corral Dirt Late Model Championship are only $18 in advance for adults and $5 for children 12 and under and can be obtained by calling 1-800-455-FANS or online at Parking for all events at The Dirt Track is free and adult tickets will be $2 more the day of the event.
