Elliott Sadler is back in the starting field for the NASCAR NEXTEL All-Star Challenge.

The Emporia, Va., driver earned a starting spot in the May 22 All-Star event at Lowe¿s Motor Speedway by winning the April 4 Samsung/Radio Shack 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.

Sadler has participated in the last three NASCAR NEXTEL All-Star Challenges, but has finished no better than 18th.

With the addition of Sadler, 22 drivers are now eligible to compete in the 90-lap race that will see the winner take home $1 million.

The starting field features:

  • Drivers and car owners who have won races in the preceding and current years.
  • Any active driver who has won the NEXTEL Cup Series championship.
  • Any active driver who has won the NEXTEL All-Star Challenge.
  • The winner of the NEXTEL Open
