The Dirt Track @ Lowe¿s Motor Speedway will launch a new Memorial Day weekend tradition when the late model stock cars of the O¿Reilly Southern All Star Racing Series compete in the Jani-King Southern Showdown Friday night, May 28, and Saturday night, May 29.

And, for a limited time, race fans can save 20 percent on tickets for this two-day racing spectacular. As part of an Early Bird Special that runs through May 12, adult reserved seats for both nights of the Jani-King Southern Showdown can be purchased for just $16 per night. That¿s $8 off day-of-event pricing and guarantees fans the same seats for both races.

Run in conjunction with the Coca-Cola 600 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series weekend at Lowe¿s Motor Speedway, the Jani-King Southern Showdown promises to be one of the most entertaining short-track events of the season. In addition to two full nights of late model stock car racing, the IMCA modifieds will be in action Friday night and several novelty attractions are also being planned.

The Friday night schedule will be highlighted by a 40-lap feature for the cars and stars of the Southern All Star Racing Series with $10,000 earmarked for the winner. There will be no time trials and drivers will draw for their heat race starting positions. The heat race winners will then redraw to determine the starting lineup for the main event.

Action heats up Saturday night with a possible $28,000 awaiting the winner of the 50-lap late model finale. Featuring a Southern-Fried Scramble format, the race will pay $10,000 with an additional $18,000 in bonus money up for grabs.

Once again, drivers will draw for their heat race starting positions. The top 18 drivers qualified for the late model feature will then redraw with their starting position being multiplied by $1,000 to determine the amount of bonus money they will receive should they win the race.

Tickets for children 12 and under are also economically priced at just $5. Tickets can be purchased online at or by calling 1-800-455-FANS.
