The Mopar Sprint Car Nationals on Wednesday night, Oct. 13, at The Dirt Track @ Lowe¿s Motor Speedway has been expanded to a doubleheader with the late model stock cars of the O¿Reilly Southern All Star Racing Series joining the traditional sprint cars of the United States Auto Club.

The event will mark the nomadic late model tour¿s fourth appearance of the season at the state-of-the-art, four-tenths-mile dirt track and a $5,000 first-prize will be on the line.

¿The Southern All Star drivers have done a tremendous job here this season and they will be a perfect compliment to the thrilling USAC sprint cars,¿ said H.A. ¿Humpy¿ Wheeler, president and general manager of Lowe¿s Motor Speedway. ¿We want to kick off UAW-GM Quality 500 Week in thrilling fashion and this combination will do just that.¿

Southern All Star point leader Shane Tankersley, Jeff Cooke, Chris Madden, Steve Lucas, Mike Duvall, Freddy Smith, Jimmy Owens and Ricky Weeks are among the late model drivers expected to compete while Jay Drake, Bud Kaeding, Cory Kruseman, Levi Jones and Tony Elliott will lead the USAC brigade¿s southern invasion.
