Prior to battling such NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series stars as Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr. in the UAW-GM Quality 500 at Lowe¿s Motor Speedway on Saturday night, Oct. 16, veteran race car driver Ken Schrader will spend an evening ¿playing¿ in the dirt.

The Fenton, Mo., native will go fender-to-fender with the likes of late model drivers Mike Duvall and Chris Madden during the Mopar Sprint Car Nationals on Wednesday night, Oct. 13, at The Dirt Track @ Lowe¿s Motor Speedway.

Schrader will drive the No. 99 Federated Auto Parts machine in the O¿Reilly Southern All Star Racing Series late model portion of the doubleheader.

A full slate of preliminary events for the late models and the traditional sprint cars of the United States Auto Club will precede the main events. The late-model finale will be 25 laps while the sprint car stars will battle for 30 laps around the four-tenths-mile clay oval.

Schrader, the 1983 USAC sprint car champion, was the first driver whose success in the Indiana-based, open-wheel series catapulted him to the national stage. NASCAR stars Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman are among those who have followed in his tire tracks.

Mopar is based in Center Line, Mich., and is the exclusive original equipment supplier of parts and accessories for Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles.
