Ryan Newman will start in a familiar position for Saturday night's NASCAR NEXTEL All-Star Challenge at Charlotte Motor Speedway - the driver of the No. 12 Alltel Dodge will lead the field to the green flag from the pole position. Newman completed the three-lap qualifying effort that included a mandatory pit stop for four tires at a time of 122.443 mph to edge veteran drivers Mark Martin and Rusty Wallace for the top spot.

Sentimental fan favorite Mark Martin scored one of the biggest and emotional wins of his storied career on Saturday night with a thrilling victory in the NEXTEL All-Star Challenge. The win allowed Martin to bank $1 million in race winnings for his efforts after he held off a late-race charge from Elliott Sadler who came in second by .582 seconds. It was Martin's second triumph in NASCAR's all-star race, his first coming in 1998. The top-five was rounded out by Hendrick Motorsports drivers' Brian Vickers, Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson.
