Charlotte-area media will wheel 13-ton machines around the frontstretch quarter-mile when the Media Mayhem school bus race returns for Round Four of the Jack in the Box Summer Shootout Series presented by Dave and Buster's on Tuesday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

In 2012, WBTV meteorologist "Hurricane" Al Conklin claimed a second consecutive victory in the fourth annual Media Mayhem school bus race. Conklin held off the world's fastest mascot, Lug Nut, and Drex from Kiss 95.1 for the win.

This year, Conklin returns as the two-time defending champion, along with Matthew East from News 14, who will look for redemption after mechanical problems ended his night early in 2012.

"As winner of the past two Media Mayhem school bus races, I'm not looking at getting left back," said Conklin. "Three, as in WBTV-3, is my favorite number, and I like the sound of three-time champ!"

Also trying to defeat Conklin will be Andrew Doud with WSOC-TV; Brandon Davidow, with WCCB; radio personalities Jim Slade, from WSOC FM and Kris Stevens, from 96.9 FM The Kat; and Lug Nut, the world's fastest mascot.

In addition to school bus racing, Round Four of the Jack in the Box Summer Shootout Series presented by Dave and Buster's will feature a full slate of Legend Car and Bandolero racing.

Tickets for the Summer Shootout Series are $7 for adults and are available in advance at the speedway ticket office or at Gates 4 and 5 the night of the event. Kids 13 and under get in free. Spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with preliminary action starting at 5:10 p.m. Opening ceremonies are at 6:45 p.m. .
