The world’s fastest eighth-mile drag racing series comes to zMAX Dragway Aug. 3-4 as the American Drag Racing League (ADRL) makes its debut at the Bellagio of drag strips at ADRL Dragstock.

The ADRL is the premier sanctioning body for eighth-mile drag racing and features door-cars, which are racing machines that have functional doors and resemble production vehicles, running speeds of more than 200 mph.

The ADRL includes seven all-professional, eighth-mile drag racing classes: Summit Racing Equipment Top Sportsman (TS), Aeromotive Fuel Systems Pro Modified (PM), Extreme Pro Stock (XPS), Pro Extreme Motorcycle (PXM), Mickey Thompson Extreme 10.5 (XTF), Pro Nitrous (PN) and Pro Extreme (PX), the fastest full-bodied, door-slammer class in the world. The revolutionary new SuperCar Showdown will also compete at this race.

The souped-up cars of the Pro Extreme division, which teeter on the edge of out of control, charge to the eighth-mile mark at speeds comparable to what an NHRA Pro Stock car runs in a quarter-mile.

The piedmont region of the Carolinas is a hot bed for door-car racing, which has contributed to the success of ADRL Dragstock since its inception at Carolina Dragway in Jackson, S.C. in 2004. More recently, ADRL Dragstock was held at Rockingham (N.C.) Dragway before moving to zMAX Dragway for its new home in 2012.

Tickets are $15 each day or $25 for a two-day pass. Children 13 and under are admitted free. Parking for this event is $10 each day.

Spectator gates open at 10 a.m. on Friday, with qualifying runs beginning at noon. On Saturday, gates open at 10 a.m., with the final round of qualifying scheduled for noon and pre-race ceremonies scheduled for 3:15 p.m., followed by eliminations.
