This year, the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals will host fans from all over the United States and from countries including Australia and Germany when the stars of the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series hit the world's only four-lane, all concrete drag strip, zMAX Dragway.

David Beitler, a fan who will travel from Frankfurt, Germany, is excited for his first trip to the Bellagio of drag strips.

“I’ve been to a couple of different tracks (including) Route 66 Raceway and The Strip (at Las Vegas),” said Beitler. “I can only guess (zMAX Dragway) will be even bigger and an absolute state of the art facility.”

Other fans travel on a regular basis to visit the dragway, like Carey Nagel from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada who will be visiting zMAX Dragway for the second time and travels just to attend the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals.

“I come with friends from Utah,” said Nagel. “(I enjoy) watching four fuel cars run side by side!”

Having visited other tracks such as Pomona, Denver and Phoenix, Nagel said zMAX Dragway is the best track to visit, by far.

Some fans are converts from other forms of racing they’ve seen at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Judy Claydon of Kitchener, Ontario, Canada is one of those. A fan of NASCAR, Claydon has attended several NASCAR and World of Outlaw races at the Mecca of Motorsports.

“We looked at the track when we attended the NASCAR races in May in previous years,” Claydon said.

This year when they attend the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals, Claydon and her family, which includes her husband, their sons and their wives, will camp at the Tom Johnson Camping Center Racing Resort campground to take advantage of the convenience of staying right next to the track.

“We have been to the drag strip at Indianapolis and we are looking forward to the weekend with our family enjoying something we all love,” said Claydon.
