As a busy year comes to a close at Charlotte Motor Speedway, officials in the speedway's corporate sales and ticket departments recognized their employees of the year for outstanding service and exceeding business goals.

Nathan Yang has been named Charlotte Motor Speedway's 2014 Corporate Sales Salesperson of the Year and Ashley Helms was named 2014 Ticket Office Salesperson of the Year.

Presented annually, the awards recognize individuals who go above and beyond the call of duty in executing their responsibilities in the corporate sales department and ticket office, respectively.

Yang joined the corporate sales staff as a sales coordinator after he interned with the department in the fall of 2000, and is now the Senior Director of Business Development.

Among his duties, Yang is responsible for selling track rentals like commercial shoots driving schools, 5Ks and other events.

"Nathan has helped realize huge growth in our track rental programs as we look to diversify our offerings at the speedway," said Dan Farrell, vice president of corporate sales. "He has been a pioneer in finding new ways to bring partners to the table and help them meet their business objectives through programs here at the speedway."

Yang also has a hand in corporate hospitality, helping sell title sponsors and branding opportunities to a diverse range of business clients.

The newly named Corporate Salesperson of the Year said he was surprised when he learned he was going to receive the honor.

"I knew I had a chance," Yang said. "But once I was told, I was obviously very excited. I'm definitely humbled, too. It's an individual award, but there's so many other people who help you do it."

Helms, a longtime employee who started in the speedway's camping office, was honored for being among the top ticket office employees in all three revenue streams of tickets, camping and experiential inventory that enhance the fans' experience.

"She brings the consistency of every-day hard work along with exceptional customer relations and selling skills," said Tim Schuldt, vice president of consumer marketing and sales. "She has had quite a run of five exceptional years, with 2014 being her strongest. We're proud to award her Salesperson of the Year."

Helms said she was honored after hearing that she'd earned the prestigious award.

"Charlotte Motor Speedway is an special place to work, and it is an honor for me to work with such a great team," she said. "It is an even bigger honor to receive this award."
