Santa Soars to New Heights to Help Kick Off Speedway Christmas
With his sleigh getting some maintenance work done and the reindeer catching up on some needed rest before their big night next month, Santa took to the skies in a helicopter to help officially open Speedway Christmas at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday.
After flying in from the North Pole, the jolly ol' elf greeted dozens of special guests from the Church of God Children's Home in nearby Kannapolis, North Carolina before jumping in Charlotte Motor Speedway's Rosenbaur fire truck and leading hundreds of eager families through the 3.1-mile drive-through course.
The night kicked off more than a month of holiday fun at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The drive-through Speedway Christmas show includes more than 3 million lights in 800 unique displays and the chance to drive on the famed 1.5-mile superspeedway. Speedway Christmas is open nightly through Dec. 30 from 6-10 p.m., except Christmas Day.
Every Thursday through Sunday night, fans will also enjoy an enchanted Christmas Village with a petting zoo, Bethlehem Village, photos with Santa and more. In addition, guests can watch holiday classics like "Elf," "Polar Express" and "Frozen" every during FOX 46 Movie Nights every Friday and Saturday.
Admission to Speedway Christmas is $15 per car on nights the village is closed and $20 per car on nights the village is open. Group rates for tour buses and corporate sponsorship opportunities are also available.
Fans can also get great deals on souvenirs for their favorite NASCAR friends and family members at the 22st annual Black Friday Blow-Out. The popular day-after-Thanksgiving event will open on Nov. 28 at 8 a.m. and will close at 4 p.m. Fans who purchase at least $50 in souvenirs or a qualifying race ticket package, or those who make a minimum $25 donation to Speedway Children's Charities can drive their personal vehicle around the famed 1.5-mile superspeedway.
