Singing Robots, Legos, and Family-Friendly Attractions Featured in Food Lion AutoFair Kid's Zone
Singing robots and a Lego building area are part of the Kid's Zone children may enjoy during the April 8-11 Food Lion AutoFair at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
After its debut on the 2009 season of "America's Got Talent," a musical group known as The ComicBot Robot Band became an internet sensation on YouTube. With polished chrome bodies and flashing LED eyes, the musicians and dancers have a style that keeps children spellbound. The all-robot band and mechanical dog will perform popular favorites for young audiences in the Kid's Zone at the AutoFair Friday at 2 p.m., Saturday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., and Sunday at 11 a.m.
The Kid's Zone will also host a Lego building area, in which children will have a chance to construct small-scale Lego race cars and test them on a track with the help of local employees from the nearby Lego Store at Concord Mills Mall.
The Kid's Zone will be located in the ARCA garage in the infield and will also include face painting and a hard-to-miss stilt walker.
Car-related displays at the AutoFair include the world's most advanced amphibious car, a collection of Lottery Fantasy automobiles, a 50thanniversary celebration of Chevrolet's Corvair and a patriotic display of vintage military vehicles. The Food Lion AutoFair annually attracts more than 120,000 visitors. It features 50-plus car club displays; more than 10,000 vendor spaces that offer a plethora of automotive parts and memorabilia; and a collector car auction conducted by Dealer Auctions Inc. More than 1,500 collectible vehicles of all makes and models will be available for sale in the car corral that rings the 1.5-mile superspeedway.
AutoFair hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday through Saturday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday. Ticket prices are $10 for adults; children under 12 are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Coupons for $2 discounts on adult tickets are available at Charlotte-area Food Lion stores. Parking for the event is $5. For more information on the four-day event, contact the speedway events department at (704) 455-3205 or visit the Food Lion AutoFair Web site.
