Sod Slingers of the U.S. Lawn Mower Racing Association Return to AutoFair April 11-12
Ready, set, mow will be the call at Charlotte Motor Speedway because lawn mower racing is back during the April 11-12 AutoFair. The U.S. Lawn Mower Racing Association will be back at AutoFair for the third consecutive year for one of the biggest annual lawn mower races on the STA-BIL National Lawn Mower Racing Series. More than 120 mowers in 11 classes will race on a specially constructed dirt oval at the fifth-mile track just outside of Turn 3.
"The Charlotte Spring AutoFair race continues to kick grass for Turf Titans across the country," said Bruce Kaufman, president of the U.S. Lawn Mower Racing Association. "Each year the event keeps getting better and we are 'mowtivated' for our triumphant return!"
Races will be held on the final days of AutoFair, on Saturday, April 11 and Sunday, April 12 on bladeless mowers that run at speeds up to 60 mph.
Families from across the region can also join in this family-oriented sport by watching all the dirt-slinging action during the final two days of AutoFair.
The Charlotte Motor Speedway AutoFair annually attracts more than 100,000 visitors, features nearly 50 car club displays and offers a surplus of automotive parts and memorabilia for sale or trade. There's also a collector car auction conducted by Dealer Auctions Inc. and more than 1,500 collectible vehicles of all makes and models will be available for sale in the car corral that rings the 1.5-mile superspeedway.
The AutoFair is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are just $11 (tax included) for adults per day and children 13 and under get in free.
