One of the fastest growing forms of racing in the country is set to take over the world's largest automotive extravaganza Sept. 19-20. Fans can witness stars of the Mystik Lubricants Terracross Championship UTV racing series battle it out over two days of intense off-road action during the Charlotte Motor Speedway AutoFair.

Terracross is raced on a short, rugged, purpose-built course made for the toughest off-road enthusiast. Multiple disciplines go head-to-head against the roughest and muddiest terrain with extreme track features, including crossover jumps.

"We are so excited to bring Terracross to the hub of motorsports at Charlotte Motor Speedway," said Joe Duncan, sport organizer of the series. "With our high-flying crossover racing action and the top name action sports stars, we are ready to crown the 2014 champion at this amazing facility. Racers and crews have been talking about this one all season and are ready to show the southeast what this new sport of Terracross is all about."

Often compared to a combination of X Games Rallycross and Endurocross, the competitors race in light-weight, production-built, three-quarter-sized off-road UTVs. The premier racing classes feature Pro Polaris RZR 1000, Pro Women, Pro 4x4 Quad and Quad Speeding with Style.

Motorsports enthusiasts can watch the two days of Terracross racing on the fifth-mile track located behind the backstretch of the legendary 1.5-mile superspeedway. Opening ceremonies start at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, followed by practice/seeding and qualifying throughout the day. Two rounds of finals will take place on Saturday, with opening ceremonies at 11 a.m. and racing immediately following.

In addition to Terracross racing, AutoFair features more than 50 car club displays and more than 10,000 vendor spaces offering an array of automotive parts and memorabilia. More than 1,500 collectible vehicles of all makes and models will be available for sale in the car corral that rings the 1.5-mile superspeedway. In addition, up to 200 cars will be auctioned by Dealer Auctions Inc., and kids can enjoy face-painting, bounce houses, and other games and entertainment in the Play Zone.

Hours for the Sept. 18-21 AutoFair are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday through Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday. Ticket prices are $10 per day for adults, and children 13 and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Fans who buy three tickets get the fourth day free. Parking for the event is $5.
