TORC Trucks, Monster Trucks and World of Outlaws Events Highlight 2012 Schedule at The Dirt Track at Charlotte
After a thrilling 2011 season that had fans on the edge of their seats, officials at The Dirt Track at Charlotte have released the 2012 schedule, which includes dirt racing's biggest shows on the biggest stage nationwide.
The Dirt Track at Charlotte's Spring Season of Speed kicks-off with the return of the Traxxas TORC Off-Road Championship Series presented by AMSOIL for the second consecutive year, April 20-21. Bridging the gap between action sports and motorsports, these Baja-style, off-road racing trucks will battle punishing terrain and world class competition on a short road course of turns and jumps, delivering a one-of-a-kind show that is sure to win over the region's dirt racing fans.
This year, the Traxxas TORC Off-Road Championship Series event will be run in conjunction with the world's largest automotive extravaganza, the Food Lion AutoFair, at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
"The Greatest Show on Dirt," the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, returns for the Circle K NOS Energy Outlaw Showdown on May 25. See the winged warriors of sprint car racing including 2011 World Finals winner and four-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car champion Donny Schatz, 2011 champion Jason Meyers and 20-time champion Steve Kinser as they battle for the trophy and bragging rights.
On Aug. 11, The Dirt Track at Charlotte welcomes the most unique vehicles on the planet for the 13th annual Circle K Back-to-School Monster Truck Bash. The 11-foot tall, 2,000-horsepower metal-crushing machines, including Equalizer, Samson, War Wizard, Brutus, Hot Tamale and Avenger are expected to compete in head-to-head challenges and the fan-favorite freestyle competition.
The late models of the World of Outlaws will descend upon The Dirt Track at Charlotte for the World of Outlaws Late Model Showdown on Oct. 10. The wheel-carrying dirt monsters like 2011 World of Outlaws Late Model champion Rick Eckert and three-time World Finals winner Jimmy Owens will battle the country's best dirt drivers in a 50-lap, fender-flying feature event.
Dirt fans from all over the world will flock to The Dirt Track at Charlotte, Nov. 1-3, to witness the sixth annual Lowes Foods World of Outlaws World Finals. Serving as the season finale for The Dirt Track, the World Finals features the stars of the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, the World of Outlaws Late Model Series and the big-block modifieds of the Super DIRTcar Series as they come together to crown their respective series champions. Over the last five years, the World Finals has become the biggest dirt racing event of the year, and capacity crowds are expected to fill the stands once again.
