Bank of America 500 Pit Note #14
Speedway Children’s Charities Track Walk Scheduled for Saturday – Race fans on hand for Saturday night’s Bank of America 500 can participate in the Charlotte Motor Speedway track walk on Saturday morning. Fans can see the speedway from a new and different perspective as they walk the high banks and straightaway of the 1.5-mile quad oval. The event begins at 10:00 a.m. Donations for the track walk can be purchased online for $25 in advance or at Charlotte Motor Speedway for $35. Children 16 and under may walk for free with a paid adult - one child per adult. All walkers must pick up their wristbands and T-shirts and sign waivers the day of the event. NASCAR celebrities are usually a part of the track walk.
Money raised will help fund grants that continue work in support of children in need.
Kurt Busch Wants to Make History - No driver in the history of Charlotte Motor Speedway has swept the speedway's three NASCAR Sprint Cup events in the same year, but Kurt Busch would like to change that this weekend. After a Happy Hour scrape with the wall, he’ll have to work even harder to make that happen, though.
Busch has won the first two events of the year at Charlotte -- the NASCAR Sprint All-Star race and the Coca-Cola 600. He qualified 15th for Saturday’s Bank of America 500.
Post-Happy Hour Quotes
Carl Edwards (No. 99 Aflac Ford, fastest in Happy Hour, 186.008 miles per hour) - My objective was to get fast, and we did that. That was the best Happy Hour we’ve had in Charlotte. I think it’s going to be a difficult race to pass. We’re trying to make sure we stay balanced for 500 laps. It’s going to be a grueling race. It’s fun to be on top of the chart here at Charlotte; that’s a first for me.
Denny Hamlin (No. 11 FedEx Ground Toyota, 183.592 miles per hour) - We were good, the best we’ve been all weekend. That was a good long run this evening. Our top speed isn’t flashy, but that last run was good. It seemed like the closer the conditions got to race conditions, the better our car got. Our car may be now as good as anyone's. This practice was very important for us.
