Bank of America 500 Pit Note #16
Sprint Media Tour January 24-27: This season isn’t even in the record books yet, but work is already well under way for the 2011 Sprint Media Tour hosted by Charlotte Motor Speedway, which will return for the 29th edition January 24-27.
A vital component of NASCAR's preseason schedule, the Media Tour gives credentialed participants the opportunity to tour race shops; interview drivers, crew chiefs and team owners; and discuss the latest developments and news with motorsports industry insiders.
The host hotel will again be the Charlotte (N.C.) University Hilton. Tour credentialing procedure and guest registration information for the hotel will be distributed in the coming weeks.
Goodguys Coming - More than 3,000 custom and modified cars will be at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the 17th annual Goodguys Southeastern Nationals October 29 - 31. Born more than 50 years ago, the street rod and custom craze is thriving, and this giant event showcases automotive masterpieces from around the nation.
Street rods, customs, street machines and musclecars displayed at the Goodguys Southeastern Nationals span the spectrum of automotive history, ranging from Model A Fords stuffed with V-8 power to the radical Dodges and Chevrolets that ruled the streets during the late 1960s.
The action-packed event also includes a manufacturers' midway, swap meet, car corral area with vehicles for sale, model car and pedal car displays.
Pre-Race Dignitaries - Country recording artist Danielle Peck will perform "God Bless America" and the national anthem before tonight’s Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, and Joe Gibbs will give the invocation.
Also during today’s pre-race festivities, Richard Childress will accept the prestigious Smokey Yunick Award, which is given annually to an individual who came from humble beginnings to make a major impact on the sport.
