Texas Motor Speedway to Host Third Annual “Smoke Show” with Tony Stewart –

Texas Motor Speedway President Eddie Gossage and two-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion Tony Stewart visited the Time Warner Media Center to announce that the third annual “Smoke Show” will be held August 17 and 18 at Texas Motor Speedway.

The event is a fantasy camp that gives fans the chance to see what it’s like to be a NASCAR driver on race day. The two-day event will host 30 students each day in an effort to raise money for Speedway Children’s Charities-Texas Chapter and the Tony Stewart Foundation. The event has raised a total of $474,000 over the past two years. Each of those was a one-day event. By adding a second day, Stewart and Gossage hope to raise at least $400,000 this year.

Gossage expressed his appreciation to Stewart for continued involvement in the charity event.

“The ‘Smoke Show’ has been a tremendous event for Speedway Children’s Charities-Texas Chapter,” said Gossage. “It was actually Tony’s idea to expand this event to two days and raise even more money for the children of North Texas. Tony has an incredible heart, and we’re just honored that he has devoted himself to the ‘Smoke Show’ and is making an impact on our North Texas communities.”

Half of the proceeds from the additional day will be donated to the Tony Stewart Foundation.

“I set out to do this event for the Texas Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities,” Stewart said. “It is extremely generous of them to involve the Tony Stewart Foundation and help me with some causes that are special to me. I really enjoy participating in this event; over the last two years, I have had the opportunity to meet some really great people.”
