Charlotte Motor Speedway is currently recruiting race fans to join the 2010 Charlotte Motor Speedway Fan Council. Those interested in serving on the Fan Council and offering their opinions to improve the fan experience at speedway events are invited to download the application from the speedway's Web site, www.charlottemotorspeedway.com, and submit the form by Jan. 8.

SPEED's wildly popular television series PINKS All Out will return to zMAX Dragway April 23-24. The most spectacular grassroots drag racing event in the country returns to the Bellagio of drag strips on the heels of a historic 2009 PINKS All Out that featured competitors racing four wide down the concrete quarter-mile.

Speedway Children's Charities will donate in excess of $854,000 to organizations in the Charlotte region benefiting area children during tonight's annual Charlotte Motor Speedway tree lighting ceremony. Marcus Smith, president and general manager of Charlotte Motor Speedway, will join Retired Air Force Maj. Gen. Tom Sadler, executive director of Speedway Children's Charities, in awarding the grants to 93 local organizations.

Josh Richards took home the trophy for his eighth victory of the 2009 season in the World of Outlaws Late Model Showdown presented by Hungry-Man. Richards started from the second position and cruised to a full straightaway lead by the time the race reached the halfway mark.

The World of Outlaws Topless Showdown presented by Hungry-Man has been postponed until tonight after qualifying for the World of Outlaws World Finals. Officials made the decision to postpone the race after several on-track incidents caused lengthy delays during heat races. Tickets for Wednesday night's show will be honored this evening. Gates open at 4 p.m. and opening ceremonies will be held at 7 p.m.

Race car drivers and fans from all over the world will converge at The Dirt Track @ Charlotte Motor Speedway this week for the World of Outlaws Topless Showdown presented by Hungry-Man on Wednesday, and the World of Outlaws World Finals, Thursday through Saturday. The World Finals event brings together the World of Outlaws sprint cars and late models for three nights of on-track action to close out their seasons and crown their champions.

Due to a rockslide that occurred at mile marker 2.6 in North Carolina, near the Tennessee state line, on Oct. 25, Interstate 40 is closed from mile marker 451 in Tennessee to mile marker 20 in North Carolina. An alternate route has been outlined for those traveling to Charlotte Motor Speedway from the Tennessee area.

With temperatures hovering in the low 50s, it was a chilly night at Charlotte Motor Speedway, but Jimmie Johnson was on fire throughout the entire NASCAR Banking 500 only from Bank of America weekend. He won the race in a dominating fashion after starting from the pole, leading 92 laps and topping the speed charts in both practice sessions

Carl Edwards will start from the pole position in his No. 60 Ortho Ford for tonight's Dollar General 300. He captured his third pole in 10 races at Charlotte Motor Speedway. His lap of 183.798 mph was enough to hold off Roush Fenway Racing teammate Matt Kenseth in the No. 16 Citifinancial Ford, who will join him on the front row for the NASCAR Nationwide Series race.

Jimmie Johnson waited out the mist and drizzle during Bojangles' Pole Night at Charlotte Motor Speedway to claim the pole for Saturday night's NASCAR Banking 500 only from Bank of America. His blistering lap of 192.376 mph set the record for the fastest qualifying lap ever run in the Car of Tomorrow. Johnson didn't let the shortened schedule or wet weather dampen his spirits.

On Thursday night, Ryan Newman nabbed his eighth career pole at Charlotte Motor Speedway and his fifth in the Coca-Cola 600. His lap of 188.475 mph beat out Kyle Busch and Jeff Gordon for the top starting spot. Busch will join Newman on the front row, and Gordon will start in third.
Tickets for the 50th Coca-Cola 600 are available at the LMS ticket office and select entry gates on event day. Gates open at 11a.m. with the green flag slated to fall at 5:45 p.m.

Fans purchasing tickets to the May 24 Coca-Cola 600 will have the opportunity to take a complimentary ride-along in a stock car courtesy of the Jeff Gordon Racing School on Wednesday, Jan. 21, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
