Charlotte Motor Speedway is currently recruiting race fans to join the 2010 Charlotte Motor Speedway Fan Council. Those interested in serving on the Fan Council and offering their opinions to improve the fan experience at speedway events are invited to download the application from the speedway's Web site, www.charlottemotorspeedway.com, and submit the form by Jan. 8.

Speedway Children's Charities will donate in excess of $854,000 to organizations in the Charlotte region benefiting area children during tonight's annual Charlotte Motor Speedway tree lighting ceremony. Marcus Smith, president and general manager of Charlotte Motor Speedway, will join Retired Air Force Maj. Gen. Tom Sadler, executive director of Speedway Children's Charities, in awarding the grants to 93 local organizations.

Fans from across the county will converge on Charlotte Motor Speedway Friday, Nov. 27, to drive their personal vehicles on the legendary 1.5-mile quad-oval. The 17th annual Souvenir and Race Ticket Blow-Out gives fans the opportunity to see the speedway from behind the wheel just like NASCAR legends Darrell Waltrip, David Pearson, Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt.

Mike Jones has been named Charlotte Motor Speedway's 2009 Salesperson of the Year. Jones, a Charlotte native who now resides in Concord, earned this prestigious award after securing numerous accounts for the 2009 and 2010 race seasons.

After two incident-filled features, Jason Meyers and Scott Bloomquist, each found Victory Lane in the first night of racing action for the World of Outlaws World Finals at The Dirt Track @ Charlotte Motor Speedway on Friday.

Josh Richards took home the trophy for his eighth victory of the 2009 season in the World of Outlaws Late Model Showdown presented by Hungry-Man. Richards started from the second position and cruised to a full straightaway lead by the time the race reached the halfway mark.

Race car drivers and fans from all over the world will converge at The Dirt Track @ Charlotte Motor Speedway this week for the World of Outlaws Topless Showdown presented by Hungry-Man on Wednesday, and the World of Outlaws World Finals, Thursday through Saturday. The World Finals event brings together the World of Outlaws sprint cars and late models for three nights of on-track action to close out their seasons and crown their champions.

Due to a rockslide that occurred at mile marker 2.6 in North Carolina, near the Tennessee state line, on Oct. 25, Interstate 40 is closed from mile marker 451 in Tennessee to mile marker 20 in North Carolina. An alternate route has been outlined for those traveling to Charlotte Motor Speedway from the Tennessee area.

Kyle Busch took home the trophy for the Dollar General 300 in the No. 18 Z-Line Designs Toyota. Busch led 137 of 200 laps to pick up his fifth NASCAR Nationwide Series victory at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Jimmie Johnson waited out the mist and drizzle during Bojangles' Pole Night at Charlotte Motor Speedway to claim the pole for Saturday night's NASCAR Banking 500 only from Bank of America. His blistering lap of 192.376 mph set the record for the fastest qualifying lap ever run in the Car of Tomorrow. Johnson didn't let the shortened schedule or wet weather dampen his spirits.

Wednesday's World of Outlaws Topless Showdown presented by Hungry Man race scheduled for The Dirt Track @ Charlotte Motor Speedway has been postponed to Wednesday, Nov. 4.

Charlotte Motor Speedway officials announced today that Grammy-nominated musical artists TobyMac and MercyMe will perform a pre-race concert for the Oct. 17 NASCAR Banking 500 only from Bank of America. Fee and Robert Pierre will also be on hand to sing as part of pre-race festivities.

Heavy rain and lightning forced officials to postpone the majority of racing in round eight of the Summer Shootout Series until next week. Only the Briggs Collision Semi-Pro Legends Car feature was completed on Tuesday evening. Fireworks on the track and in the sky thrilled a spectacular crowd during round four of the Summer Shootout Series on Harrisburg Fireworks Night at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Feature winners Scott Knox, Dennis Kiser and Ray Beebe brought as many "ooohs" and "aaahs" from the fans with their intense racing and last-lap passes as the aerial fireworks display at the conclusion of the night.

Coty Hartson is classified as a rookie in the Bandolero Bandits division of the Summer Shootout Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway, but that doesn't mean he is a stranger to racing.

Even threatening skies and scattered showers couldn't put a damper on the racing action during the second round of the Summer Shootout Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway Tuesday night. Andrew Smith, Dennis Kiser and Ray Beebe were among the feature winners during a night of door-to-door racing in each of the six divisions.

At 63, Gary Shannon is one of the oldest drivers competing in the Summer Shootout Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway, but the Legends Car Masters division driver doesn't let his age slow him down.

Fans attending opening night of the 16th annual Summer Shootout Series tonight at Charlotte Motor Speedway can expect to see wild-and-wacky on-track action when school bus racing presented by Dollar General joins the traditional slate of Legends Car and Bandolero action.

He had to wait a day to do it, but David Reutimann grabbed the checkers for the 50^th running of the Coca-Cola 600 under a rain delay in front of NASCAR's hometown crowd at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The race, originally scheduled for Sunday, was postponed until Monday after rain wiped out on-track activities Sunday night.

Mike Bliss, driver of the No. 1 Miccosukee Indian Gaming & Resort Chevrolet scored his second NASCAR Nationwide Series victory, Saturday night, in the rain shortened CARQUEST Auto Parts 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The race ended under caution after 170 laps of 200 scheduled laps were completed.

On Thursday night, Ryan Newman nabbed his eighth career pole at Charlotte Motor Speedway and his fifth in the Coca-Cola 600. His lap of 188.475 mph beat out Kyle Busch and Jeff Gordon for the top starting spot. Busch will join Newman on the front row, and Gordon will start in third.

Tickets for the 50th Coca-Cola 600 are available at the LMS ticket office and select entry gates on event day. Gates open at 11a.m. with the green flag slated to fall at 5:45 p.m.

Kevin Harvick, driver of the No. 29 Pennzoil Chevrolet, won the Pennzoil Victory Challenge burnout competition held on the front stretch of Charlotte Motor Speedway Saturday afternoon. Harvick took home the $10,000 prize over competitors Darrell Waltrip, Clint Bowyer, Jeff Gordon, Greg Biffle, Kyle Busch, and Kasey Kahne.
