It was a spectacular Champion’s Night at the 19^th Jack in the Box Summer Shootout Series as NASCAR driver Kyle Busch and NHRA driver Doug Herbert waved the green flag on the final round of the prestigious Legend Car and Bandolero series, Tuesday. Tyler Green, Tyler Hill, Layton Sullivan and Austin Green were among the season champions at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The Green family is known for its deep roots in racing. All three brothers, Mark, David and Jeff, went from growing up in Owensboro, Ky., to racing in NASCAR. Now, multiple members of the family race in the Jack in the Box Summer Shootout Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Everyone has come to expect great runs from the Greens, but no one expected such a dominating performance from David’s 11-year-old son, Austin, in the 2012 season.

Tonight, Round Nine of the Jack in the Box Summer Shootout Series will feature Power Wheels racing and First Responders bus racing. In addition, the Legend and Bandolero feature races that were postponed from Round Eight will be run prior to the Round Nine races. Fans who attended last week’s weather-shortened event can bring their tickets stubs for admission on Tuesday. Gates open at 5 p.m. with feature racing at 5:10 p.m. Tickets are $7 for adults and kids 13 and under get in free.

Thirty kids will get the thrill of a lifetime Tuesday at Charlotte Motor Speedway when they race their Power Wheels on the same course where NASCAR stars like Dale Earnhardt Jr., Joey Logano and David Ragan got their starts in motorsports.

Monster truck fans can get ready for some Saturday night family fun when the Circle K Back-to-School Monster Truck Bash presented by Polar Pop returns to The Dirt Track at Charlotte this weekend.

Tuesday's racing action ended early as severe weather forced officials to call Round Eight of the Jack in the Box Summer Shootout Series during the second feature race of the night. Brian Weimer won in the Auto Country Club Legend Car Masters feature while Daniel Hemric claimed his third Quaker Steak and Lube Legend Car Pro victory of the year.

Shannon “Iceman” Jenkins has been a staple at the American Drag Racing League’s (ADRL) prestigious Dragstock race, first appearing at the event in 2005. At the ninth rendition of the race on Saturday, Jenkins delivered another trademark performance in Pro Nitrous, this time at the ADRL’s first appearance at zMAX Dragway.

Summer coming to an end means two things for kids in the Charlotte area, the start of the school year and the return of the Circle K Back-to-School Monster Truck Bash presented by Polar Pop at The Dirt Track at Charlotte. And for area Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts, it means the return of the annual Monster Truck Scout Camporee on Saturday, Aug. 11.

Cure Duchenne. Those two words are what motivate 13-year-old Jack in the Box Summer Shootout Series competitor Connor Pyle to be the best Legend Car driver he can be. Pyle uses his winnings from Charlotte Motor Speedway and other money he raises to find a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy and hopefully save the life of his 5-year-old cousin, Chase, and other kids affected by the disease.

Round Six of the Jack in the Box Summer Shootout Series was full of excitement as multiple drivers captured their first wins of the season while others continued to add wins to their resumes at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Justin Swilling, Tom Pistone and John Holleman were among those who found their way to victory lane Tuesday night.   

As the world turns its attention to the London Olympic Games, kids can go for the gold in their very own Olympics Tuesday night during Round Six of the Jack in the Box Summer Shootout Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The crowd never experienced a dull moment Tuesday during Round Five of the Jack in the Box Summer Shootout Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The on-track battles heated up, causing plenty of drama between competitors as they reached the halfway point of the season. Daniel Hemric, Austin Green and Spencer Boyd were among the night’s feature winners.

This summer, through a partnership between Charlotte Motor Speedway and the Cannon Memorial YMCA, youth across the region have the opportunity to get a hands-on look at all things motorsports through a unique week-long camp that teaches them about the sport, its history and even puts them behind the wheel for a few laps.

Round Four of the Jack in the Box Summer Shootout Series featured wet and wild racing, fantastic photo finishes and plenty of wrecks on the frontstretch quarter-mile at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Austin Hill, Brayton Haws and Tyler Lester were among Tuesday night’s feature race winners.

Veteran Legend Car racer Doug Stevens, of Griffin, Ga., captured the pole for tomorrow’s prestigious Legends Big Money 100 A-Feature at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Boasting a total purse of $100,000, the Legends Big Money 100 is the biggest grassroots racing event in the country.

Kyle Plott won last year’s Legend’s Big Money 100 race at only 15 years old.  A year later, he’s looking to defend his title in the race that will run at Charlotte Motor Speedway July 2-3.  We’ve been talking to Kyle every week leading up to the biggest event in grassroots racing to find out how he’s preparing. This week he talked to us about his excitement going into the Legend’s Big Money 100, the advice he’s given and been given over the years, and how he wants his future to be all about racing.

“Danica-mania” will make a stop at Charlotte Motor Speedway during the biggest Memorial Day tailgate party in the world this weekend, as the 30-year-old Illinois native continues to test her mettle against NASCAR’s best competition at the Coca-Cola 600.

With so much to do around Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend, the track has certainly earned the title of world’s biggest Memorial Day tailgate party. Here’s a rundown of some of what’s planned:

Defending event champion Kasey Kahne and 2010 “burnout” winner Joey Logano will be joined by three of NASCAR’s biggest names in the fifth annual Pennzoil Victory Burnout Challenge as part of the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race pre-event festivities taking place at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday, May 19.

On the eve of the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series points leader Greg Biffle stopped by the track to try his hand at Global Rallycross racing, a new -- and very different -- on-track battle, which will make its Charlotte debut as part of a racing doubleheader on May 26.

GRAMMY Award winning country music megastar Tim McGraw will join a star-studded celebrity lineup at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the 53rd running of the Coca-Cola 600 on May 27 when he helps introduce the Top 10 qualifiers before the race.

Chairman and CEO Bruton Smith outlined a program Friday that will spur friendly competition in North Carolina cities and further educational programs across the state.

Through the annual Sprint Fan Vote, underway now, fans can again cast ballots for their favorite eligible driver. The driver receiving the highest number of votes will earn a spot in the field.

The stars of the premier Baja-style, off-road truck racing series, the Traxxas TORC Series presented by AMSOIL, are back for the second consecutive year at The Dirt Track at Charlotte for two nights of racing action, April 20-21.

Charlotte Motor Speedway has added even more excitement to the 10 greatest days in racing with the addition of a Global Rallycross Championship (GRC) event during the Coca-Cola 600 weekend.
