Charlotte Motor Speedway is joining with business leaders from around the country to honor some 10,000 active military and family members before the green flag drops on NASCAR's ultimate test of man and machine, the May 26 Coca-Cola 600, as part of a Memorial Day weekend saluting the U.S. Armed Forces. The day of tribute will feature a special celebration luncheon hosted by John Schnatter, founder, chairman and CEO of Papa John's International, where more than 3,000 pizzas will be served to the military guests.

Matt Hagan ended a 17-month winless drought by racing to the Funny Car victory Sunday at the Dollar General NHRA Four-Wide Nationals fueled by Full Throttle at zMAX Dragway. Spencer Massey (Top Fuel), Mike Edwards (Pro Stock) and Hector Arana Jr. (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also were winners of the only NHRA Mello Yello Series Drag Racing event that features competition in four lanes simultaneously.

Opening day of the Dollar General NHRA Four-Wide Nationals fueled by Full Throttle has been canceled due to rain and severe weather in the area. On-track action will resume as originally scheduled Saturday morning at 8 a.m., with Mello Yello Drag Racing Series qualifying scheduled for 12:15 p.m.

The 2013 zMAX Dragway track champions were decided and Kyle Oliver was crowned King of the Track Saturday, giving him bragging rights to accompany his berth to the NHRA bracket finals. The day-long event featured four classes: Pro Street, Top Eliminator, Sportsman and Super Pro competing in bracket races. More than 200 competitors came from states across the region, including West Virginia, Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee, in addition to those from North Carolina.
