Eggnog Jog, Movie Nights, Photos with Santa and More Add to Fun of Speedway Christmas
When the fourth annual Speedway Christmas kicks off on Saturday, fans will be treated to a variety of holiday activities, sights and sounds that would even get the Grinch in a festive spirit. From photos with Santa and crafting with elves, to seeing Christmas classics on the World's Largest HDTV, the region's largest light show has become the newest can't-miss Christmas tradition.
Eggnog Jog 5K to Offer Sneak Peek of Speedway Christmas Lights
The only thing better than driving through three million lights and 800 displays is running through them dressed in a festive holiday costume. The inaugural Eggnog Jog 5K on Friday, Nov. 22 will kick off this year's Speedway Christmas by giving fans the opportunity to get a sneak peek and run through the course. The fun run begins at 7:30 p.m. and will be followed by a Charity Case Band performance. The post-race concert benefits Ace and TJ's Grin kids, and part of the run's proceeds will benefit Speedway Children's Charities. To register, visit www.eggnogjog5k.com. Don't want to run? Spectators can skip the 5K and join the after-party for just $5.
New Attractions to Enhance 2013 Holiday Experience
Charlotte Motor Speedway works to grow Speedway Christmas every single year in order to provide fans with new experiences to go along with timeless favorites. This year, it isn't just the more than 80 new light displays at the event. Visitors can customize their own ornaments and street signs as well as visit several new vendor stations. Origami Owl, a jewelry vendor, and 31 Monogrammable Totes will both be on hand at this year's Speedway Christmas. These new vendors and others will help fans find the perfect Christmas gift for everyone on their list, while enjoying the holiday season themselves.
Holiday Classics on the World's Largest HDTV
Instead of watching Christmas classics at home, fans are invited to enjoy their favorite holiday movies on the World's Largest HDTV at Charlotte Motor Speedway. As part of Speedway Christmas, fans can take in a drive-in movie during the spectacular light show every Friday and Saturday night. Some of the movies include "A Christmas Story," "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and "Polar Express." Admission to the movie is free with the purchase of a Speedway Christmas ticket, and movies begin at 7 p.m.
Bojangles' Petting Zoo to Provide Family Fun
Only at Charlotte Motor Speedway can fans celebrate the holidays by taking a ride on exotic animals like a camel or feeding goats, turkeys and livestock. With the Bojangles' Petting Zoo in the Christmas Village, fans can get up close and personal with a wide variety of animals. Other animal attractions include horse-drawn carriage rides and pony rides. After playing in the petting zoo, families are invited to enjoy other Christmas Village attractions such as marshmallow roasting, the Bethlehem Village and activites for the kids.
Interact with Santa and His Elves
It would not be Christmas without Santa, and Charlotte Motor Speedway will not disappoint fans looking to interact with the jolly ol' elf. Photos with Santa, presented by Cricket, will be available in the Christmas Village every Thursday through Sunday. Also, in the Elves' Workshop, children can create holiday crafts with some of Santa's helpers. The Christmas Village allows families, especially children, to interact with some of the North Pole's finest.
The drive-through light show will be open nightly Nov. 23-Dec. 30 from 6-10 p.m., and closed Christmas Day. Admission to Speedway Christmas is $15 per car on Monday-Wednesday nights, when the Christmas Village is closed, and $20 per car on Thursday-Sunday nights, when the village is open. Group rates for tour buses and corporate sponsorship opportunities are also available.
