Pennington Seed, Inc., in partnership with Kingsford charcoal and Lowe's, announced the launch of the "All-Star Backyard Experience" Sweepstakes. The national promotion will provide consumers the opportunity to participate in the All-Star weekend at the Charlotte Motor Speedway (CMS), including: a pre-race concert with Jake Owen and the 30th running of the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race on Saturday, May 17, 2014, among other events.

From now until May 1, consumers who visit a participating Lowe's store will save 20 percent off their purchase of a 15-pound or 20-pound bag of Pennington 1 Step Complete and twin pack of Kingsford or Match Light Charcoal, when purchased in combination.

"With Kingsford and Pennington Seed, homeowners have all they need to create lasting memories with friends and family this spring," said Jeff Crow, vice president of marketing at Central Garden & Pet Company, the parent company of Pennington Seed. "We encourage consumers to not only take advantage of the limited-time promotion on these backyard staples, but also enter to win the 'All-Star Backyard Experience.'"

Consumers can enter the "All-Star Backyard Experience" Sweepstakes in two ways: Purchase Pennington and Kingsford products or submit a mail-in entry. Each sweepstakes entry offers consumers the chance to win race tickets, exclusive access to the pre-race concert and a race-related grand prize.

"Having a beautiful lawn makes grilling out even better," said Lauren Kahn, associate director for Kingsford Charcoal. "Throw in a chance to win an amazing NASCAR experience and Pennington Seed and Kingsford Charcoal have created a compelling reason to spruce up your yard and get out and grill this spring."

As part of a longstanding relationship, the infield grass of the Charlotte Motor Speedway has been maintained and improved using Pennington grass seed. The track also has served as the home of All-Star Race for nearly 30 years.

"Each year fans flock to the Sprint All-Star Race because it has such a history of memorable moments on the track and spectacular pre-race entertainment," said Scott Cooper, vice president of communications at Charlotte Motor Speedway.  "This year we're proud to work with our trusted partners, Pennington Seed, Kingsford and Lowe's, to offer NASCAR fans an unbelievable experience---the most exciting All-Star event in all of sports and an incredible pre-race concert by country music superstar Jake Owen."

Pennington grass seed, Kingsford and Match Light Charcoal are available at home improvement stores and select independent retailers nationwide. For a complete list of sweepstakes rules and details or to enter into the sweepstakes, visit www.charlottemotorspeedway.com/lowes/.
