Race into the Holidays with the First Annual Eggnog Jog 5K at Charlotte Motor Speedway
Local runners should break out the elf hats, dust off the Santa suits and get ready to jingle all the way through the Eggnog Jog 5K on Nov. 22. The 3.1-mile course for the most festive holiday fun run in the area will wind through more than 800 light displays containing 3 million lights set up for the fourth year of Speedway Christmas.
The drive-through light show will be transformed into a unique runner's paradise on opening night. Runners are encouraged to dress in their most festive attire and join the fun as Charlotte Motor Speedway kicks off the holiday season and Speedway Christmas, which will begin on Saturday, Nov. 23.
"Charlotte Motor Speedway has hosted several high-energy fun runs, but the Eggnog Jog promises to top them all," said Marcus Smith, president and general manager of Charlotte Motor Speedway. "Speedway Christmas has become a can't-miss holiday tradition for thousands of families and adding the Eggnog Jog gives fans a new chance to get into the Christmas spirit and grab a sneak peek inside the world's greatest light show."
Following the fun run, fans will be treated to a huge two-hour party, including a concert by Charlotte's own Charity Case band. All proceeds from Charity Case performances benefit Ace and TJ's Grin Kids. Food and beverages will be available for purchase during the concert.
Registration for the Eggnog Jog 5K is now open at www.eggnogjog5K.com. Runners can register for $40 per person through Nov. 8. From Nov. 9-15, registration is $50 per person. Week of registration, November 16-22, is $60 per person. Teams of four or more will receive a $5 per person discount. Kids under age 7 are free with a registered adult runner. All registered runners receive a fun Eggnog Jog 5K Christmas t-shirt.
A portion of the event's proceeds will benefit the Charlotte Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities.
Since running isn't for everyone, the Eggnog Jog 5K is also open to spectators for just $5. Fans can come watch their friends and family run or just take in all the holiday spirit at the after party.
Speedway Christmas will be open for cars nightly from Nov. 23-Dec. 30 (closed Christmas Day). Thursday through Sunday nights, the infield of Charlotte Motor Speedway will once again transform into a Christmas Village featuring a Bethlehem Village with live actors and
animals, a petting zoo, games and activities in Santa's Workshop, plus a chance to visit Santa and have your photo taken.
Admission is $20 per car Thursday through Sunday when the Christmas Village is open and $15 per car Monday-Wednesday drive-through-only nights. Group rates are available.
